Daily Maths - click here for Number Of The Day

Saturday was World Vet Day. Despite the situation with COVID-19, vets are still treating animals who need emergency attention. As our school is a supporter of the PDSA, I would like you to design a poster celebrating the wonderful work they do. Or, you could design a card to say thank you to them and send it to your local PDSA vets (please ask an adult about this though, as you will need to be able to do this safely). Remember to say which school you are from! It would be great if you could send me a photograph, so I can add it to our school's Petwise Dashboard. Click on the below picture to take you to the PDSA website.....

Year 5 Maths - an hour on Sumdog please. Let's try and get some great scores for the competition :-)!

Reading - please spend at least 30 minutes on a book I set you. It would be great if you could read it to an adult who can then ask you questions about it.

PE - get your hearts pumping with a session from Joe Wicks.

Have a fab day guys :-)!

Monday 27th April 2020

Good morning Class 4 - I hope you have had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunshine in your back gardens. Did anybody design a crown? I would love to see pictures of it, if you did :-).

Daily Maths - Number Of The Day can be found here.

SPAG - ask someone in your house to test you on your spellings this morning. If you have not completed the tasks already set on SPAG.com, spend some time catching up. If you are all up to date, choose a task from your profile to complete.

Writing - start the lesson with a warm up from SuperMovers. If you have not finished your biography from last week, spend some time on it this morning. Make sure you edit your work and chose at least 5 words to improve on. Have you checked your work against the help mat? Have you compared your work to the example biographies you looked at? You may find it helpful to ask an adult to help you.

Year 5 Maths - move onto the next page in your Maths text book. Remember the Sumdog competition has started too! You may want to spend some time trying to answer as many questions as you can :-).

Writing - continue with your writing lesson from this morning. Check your punctuation and grammar - does it make sense when you read it aloud?

Reading - spend 30 minutes reading a book I set you.

Collective Worship - choose a member of staff and a pupil to pray for.

Have a great day guys :-)!

Year 6 Maths: click below for even more work on subtraction.

Daily Maths - click here for Number Of The Day

Writing

Now you have your plan, write out your biography. Before you do, check that you have included everything. Use the help mat in the resources folder (scroll down to the Queen picture) to help you. Remember that each section needs an underlined subheading (except the introduction and your ending). Make sure you use a dictionary for spelling.

French

As you did Science on Wednesday to celebrate Earth day, today you can take a look at what Mr Tinjod has sent for you .......

Reading - spend at least 30 minutes of reading a book I set you.

Art/DT - to finish off celebrating the Queen's birthday this week, have a go at designing your own version of her crown. You could even try making it. Remember to measure your head first, or.....you could make it for your mum!

Here is how to make one, click on the picture to take you to the YouTube video...

Have a great weekend guys! :-)

Subtraction 3

Thursday 23rd April 2020

Daily Maths - click here for Number Of The Day

A bit of a different workout to start your English lesson today! Click on the image below to see what it is.......

Writing

Now you have looked at some examples of biographies and read some information on the Queen, spend some time this morning, researching her on the internet. Make notes using short sentences and bullet points. Remember, your notes should be in your own words. You may wish to print some information and use your highlighters, in your stationary packs, to help select the most useful and relevant information.

Year 5 Maths

On Tuesday, your task was to draw angles. Today, I would like you to look at the properties of rectangles on page 119 (Target Your Maths books). Remember to look carefully. The letters on the shapes mean you have to find the missing length or angles. You might find KFC useful for this! Remember.....

K - What do I know? the lengths/angles already in the question

F - What do I need to find out? the lengths/angles that have letters & not numbers

C - What do I need to calculate/what is the question asking me? to use the information in the question to work out the lengths using the correct units in my answer. Some questions might have another step to answer.

Always look back at the question to make sure you have answered it fully.

Remember to start your lesson with a workout from SuperMovers :-)

Writing

Now you have lots of information about the Queen, start planning how you are going to write your biography on her. What sections are you going to have? Remember to do your introduction last (and it does not need a subheading of 'introduction').

Biographies are written in chronological order. Your first paragraph should be about when the Queen was born and where. Who were her parents? Did she have any siblings, if so, who?

Next, write about her growing up. Where did she go to school? What was life like living as a royal as she was growing up? etc.

The following paragraphs could be about any significant events in her adult life. Becoming Queen should definitely be part of one of these paragraphs! You could also include why she has two birthdays.

Did you find any information about other Queens? Are there any differences? If so, what? Remember you need a final paragraph to sum up all of your information.

To plan your biography, you should use short sentences and bullet points. Your plan should not be written in full sentences that you copy out in your first draft.  You could use a mind map to help separate your information or you could fold an A4 piece of paper into 6 sections. The first section for your introduction (which you write last) and the last section for your ending.

Spend 30 minutes reading one of the books I set you.

Have a lovely day guys! :-)
