Physical Education

At Bishopton Redmarshall, children are encouraged to be active both indoors and outdoors - whatever the weather!

Children have at least two sessions of physical activity each week. Depending on the time of year, this can be formal PE lessons, swimming, yoga, dance, gymnastics, cross country and much more depending on class topics/themes. We have a sports coach, Mr Marr, who delivers the majority of our PE, alongside the class teacher.

We also offer after-school clubs. Activities change on a half-termly basis but include tag rugby, multisports and basketball. In the summer term, we offer golf as a before-school club. Our children are encouraged to take part in the Darlington Schools competitions and we have had great success in recent years in cross-country and swimming.

Darlington Football club are regular visitors to school and our children have also accessed their facilities as part of our wider experience approach.

In the spring and summer terms, we also encourage our children to take part in the Daily mile at lunchtime.

We encourage our children to aspire to be the best they can and aim high and we invite guests into school to motivate and engage with them. A recent visitor was Sally Scott, Olympic athlete.

We have recently used some of our Sports Premium funding to turn our yard into an active playground!
